Too heavy.

She’s fed up: slow on the fist and liable to sit in a tree instead of coming back.

Too light.

She’s low: weak, cold, with nothing in reserve for the weather or the chase.

A few grams.

Between them sits her flying window, where she is keen, fit and responsive.

02 · The weight card

For centuries, the window lived on a card.

A pencil, a card pinned inside the mews door, a notebook in the hawking bag. Falconers have always kept the numbers, and done the sums in their heads at dawn, with a bird on the fist.

02 · The weight card

Now it’s a window you can see.

Every weigh-in lands on her curve, inside her window. The trend, the grams lost per hour, the feed for tomorrow, all worked out before your coffee.

Step up. Weighed. Logged.

Know when she’ll be ready.

Her flying window is set once and drawn every morning. From her grams lost per hour, Falconry Scale forecasts when she’ll reach it, and says how sure it is.

Feed for tomorrow morning.

Food items, crop state and schedules in one place. After the flight it suggests how much to feed to hold her near her flying weight by dawn, and moult mode plans a gentle bring-down, capped at 1.5% a day.

Questions falconers ask.

What is Falconry Scale?

Falconry Scale is a weight-management and record-keeping app for falconers, for iPhone and Android. It keeps every weigh-in, flying window, slip, health note and legal paper for every raptor in your mews in one calm, precise record.

What is a flying weight, and why does it matter?

A bird of prey flies best inside a narrow weight range, her flying window. Too heavy and she is fed up: slow on the fist and liable to sit in a tree. Too light and she is low: weak and cold, with nothing in reserve. Falconry Scale draws her window every morning and checks each weigh-in against it.

What can I track in the app?

Daily weigh-ins with grams lost per hour (GPH) and a forecast of when she will be ready to fly, feeds and crop state, slips and hunts rated on five advantages, a health timeline with medication reminders, and a vault for CITES certificates, permits and ring papers with reminders at 30, 7 and 1 days. Everything exports as CSV or JSON.

When can I get it, and what does it cost?

We are opening the Pilot to a small group of falconers this winter, Ireland and the UK first. Free covers up to 3 raptors. Pro is €9.99 a month or €89.99 a year with a 7-day free trial, and founding members lock in their first year of Pro for €69.99. Join the waitlist to be invited.

Is the Bluetooth scale available?

Not yet. The Falconry Scale Bluetooth scale is still in development. Every plan works today with manual weigh-ins, and the scale will arrive as a free update when it ships.

Who owns my data, and is it private?

You do. Your raptor records are private unless you choose to share them, we never sell your data or show ads, and you can export everything or delete your account at any time. Deleted data is permanently erased within 30 days.
